If God is good, why would he allow bad things.

"Because it's through the greatest suffering, we find the greatest need for God."

This is a hard subject for a lot of people because pain isn't something we long to feel. We tend to hide behind this emotion and hope it fades away. We like to say quotes like, " Time heals all wounds." And when it doesn't, we choose to either run away from it and take the pain out on people who never hurt us. Or we build up a wall and never allow ourselves to be vulnerable again, living with a fear of being hurt and experiencing the pain again.

But the truth is, time doesn't heal.

Jesus heals.

So if God is good, then why would he allow us to have pain?

I might not have all the answers you're looking for, but these are some of the things God has given me a greater understanding and revelation in.

1) Because he wants us to experience true love.

John 3:16

"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."

The greatest love story ever told was a sacrifice.

He sent his son to overcome your every pain so that one day we would get to stand before him. Blameless and Perfect.

True love is not the absence of pain, but rather knowing through the pain; we find true love.

If life were free of hardships and pain, we wouldn't long for Jesus. Our relationship with him would become shallow, lacking any depth.

We value friendships and relationships because of things we walk through with that person. Because it's in those moments your relationship grows.

2) Because he wants us to draw near to him

I would bet if you ask any Christian truly walking with the Lord, most of the time, their testimony is not my life was perfect, and then I found Jesus.

No, It's I hit rock bottom, and then I found Jesus.

Because it's through the greatest suffering, we find the greatest need for God.

It's easy to drift away from God when things are going good in life. But the second you need him to do a miracle, most of us find ourselves praying more than usual.

Why? Because we know we need Him.

And sometimes God wants to shatter everything you think you want to show you He is all you need.

Our greatest purpose in life is not to find happiness on earth; it's to find our happiness in eternity.

God is Good. But that doesn't mean that life is always good.

And that is a hard concept for some people.

Because they associate ever-changing situations, with a God who's never changing

We were born already broken because we are the descendants of Adam and Eve, who brought sin into the world because they were blinded by the scheme of the enemy.

We cannot forget that the enemy is just as much alive as God.

And we cannot live a life blinded to his spirits.

He comes to steal, kill. And destroy.- John 10:10

He doesn't want you to know that God is close to the brokenhearted, so, in the midst of your pain is he going to tell you that God wanted you to experience hurt because you are not worthy or loved. But it's because of how worthy and loved you are, that God brings you to things so you can see him out of it.

Just as God has plans for your life, so does the enemy.

But we have a choice, to blame God for hurt, or ask him what he wants us to learn from it so that we may draw closer to Him. So we can prevent the enemy from having his way.

3) Because he wants us to choose him

I think about it like this. Let's say you grew up in a house where your dad told you how much he loved you every day. But then kept you inside your room and never allowed you to leave. Never letting you make choices for yourself because he loved you so much he wanted to prevent you from getting hurt.

I don't know about you but I would feel anything but loved. Why? Because how could somebody say they loved you and then not give you the choice to love people back. Hiding you away from the world.

He wants you to choose to love him.

God doesn't need you.

God wants you.

If God forced us to love him, then we would not get too long for heaven.

We get to worship God.

I wish I could tell you why God chooses to heal people or let others go home to him. But what I do know is that there was a purpose for Jesuses' pain. And there is a purpose for yours.

The fact that God gives us a choice, is proof that we can choose bad things to happen.

4) Because he wants us

Sometimes the pain isn't about you but the people God wants around you.

But God loves us so much that he would do whatever it takes for you to see just how much he really cares.

Jesus didn't die for himself. He died for you.

And maybe some of the bad things that happen around you is because we chose it.

But the good news is, Romans 5:8 tells us,

" God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners."

God made us and said it was good. But that doesn't mean that everything we do is good.

But what it does mean, is that even when we aren't good, God is.

Because it's while we were sinners, that he chose us.

1 Peter 2:21

"For to this, you have been called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you might follow in his steps."

We can choose to dwell in the pain or dwell in the promise.

Having faith in God is knowing that when we see pain, we see a purpose.

"And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.”- Revelation 21:4

God doesn't see a lifetime, he sees eternity. And his greatest goal is to get you there. And if having to endure pain is going to allow us to see more of him, then I think it's worth it.

"For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." - Jeremiah 29:11

So, the next time life tries to throw pain at you and hope you drown in sorrow. Know that God has plans to prosper you, to give you abundant life in Him. If you just give him your every pain.
