Probably the most powerful and effective service we can offer our husbands is bathing them in prayer. I can cook his dinners, wash his clothes, care for his children, but I am doing him a disservice if I am not offering up prayers of his life to the Lord.

Prayer for our husbands is encouraging and revitalizing.

We, as their wives, have the ability to pray over our husbands like no one else can. Marriage is intimate, vulnerable, and strips away the facade we put up for others. Marriage shows our deepest sinful selves, our most gut-wrenching grievances, and our highest highs over joyous circumstances.

We know specifics to pray because as the spouse we see every flaw, every triumph, every selfish desire, and every success. We have the blessing of offering up prayers to our Heavenly Father that no one else in their life has the insight to do.

When I get annoyed with my husband, I can either start complaining and nagging, or I can give it to God and let Him work on my husbands heart in a way only our Redeemer can.

Nothing is too small or too hard to offer up in prayer to our sovereign Lord.

1. Pray For Your Husband's Walk With God.

Pray for your husband to be filled with the Spirit, and to live obediently in the Word. Pray for him to earnestly seek after righteousness (1 Timothy 6:11). Pray for him to grow in grace and knowledge of His Savior. Pray for him to always give God glory. (2 Peter 3:18)

2. Pray For Your Husband To Be A Leader.

God's calling is for husbands to be the head of the house (1 Corinthians 11:3, Ephesians 5:23, 1 Peter 3:7). A lot of stress can go into loving like Christ loves the church, providing for a family, and guiding spiritually. It's a burden that I am honestly glad I don't have to bear. The best thing I can do is pray for blessings over my husband and his leadership role.

3. Pray For Your Husband As A Godly Parent.

Fathers are instructed to bring up their children in the Lord (Ephesians 6:4). Pray for your husband to walk in the ways of the Lord, and model that to their children. Pray for them to love their children as our Heavenly Father loves us.

4. Pray For Your Husbands Health.

Pray that the Lord would keep your husband in good health. John prayed for the good health of a dear friend (3 John 1:2), as we can also pray for the health of our helpmate. You can pray that your husband would remember to keep his body in a healthy state as it is a temple of the Lord (1 Corinthians 6:19).

5. Pray For His Relationship With You.

Pray for your relationship with each other, and that your marriage would be God-honoring. Pray that you would both remember you are now one flesh, and you made a covenant vow between each other and God (Mark 10:8,9). In a world that preaches love yourself more, pray that you would each love yourself less and put your spouses needs above yours.

Pray Earnestly.

Rejoice always; pray without ceasing; in everything give thanks; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus. 1 Thessalonians 5:16,17
