Increasing Your Endurance  By Lindsey Michelle

“Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing. If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking.”

James 1:2-5 NLT

How do you handle yourself when trouble comes into your life?

How do you respond? Do you get excited when you faced with a problem?

Being a believer is not an easy life. There has been a lot of tests and tribulations in my life that made me ask, “why is this happening to me, Lord?” I used to believe if I am a follower of Christ, then I won’t have problems in my life. When you think about it, how can we grow if problems don’t arise in our life to develop us?

When you read this bible verse, it says “when troubles of any kind come your way.” It’s doesn’t say “if troubles come,” so we should know to be a believer that we are going to have our faith tested. We should have joy when we know our faith is being tested because it is a chance for us to develop and it allows us to gain more wisdom from the experience.

Think about all the trials or troubles you’ve gone through in life, didn’t they make you a better person? It allowed you to learn from them as well. Now when those same problems arise, you know how to navigate and handle it differently.

When I pray I say, " Father God". I call him “Father God” because I look at Him as my Heavenly Father. Think about how our parents love, challenge, and correct us. They’re not picking on us, but challenging us to make us better because they love us.

That’s how much God loves you. He promises to make us perfect and complete. The only way He can do that is if He allows trials in our life to develop our character.

Imagine how God feels about you when you overcome pain and hardships that He allowed to happen. If you struggle with how to handle problems in your life, go back to this bible verse,

“If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking.

God will not leave you in the dark to just figure it out. He has given us the ability to make wise choices in a difficult situation when we ask for it.

So, whenever you are faced with tough times read these bible verses to give you a positive outlook on what you’re going through. If you need wisdom, we can pray to God and ask. He loves you and only wants to build your character. Whatever you are going through just know that you’re going to come out like a precious gold!

“Dear friends, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal that has come on you to test you, as though something strange was happening to you.”

1 Peter 4:12 NIV
