An Invitation to Walk in the Garden with the Lord

By: Graci Bradley

I’ve been rereading through Genesis and something that just really stuck out to me was how Adam and Eve were able to walk with the Lord in the garden.

Honestly, how cool would that be for you and I to literally walk in the garden with God like it was no big deal. It is so crazy to me that from the very beginning, God was walking with His children, like the father He is.

Not only did God walk with Adam and Eve, but He was also inviting them to be a part of life with Him! I bet those garden walks were a normal routine for the Lord, Adam, and Eve.

I want you to just take a moment to imagine yourself walking through the garden with the Lord.

Can you imagine the peace you would feel?

Or the utmost holiness surrounding you? Or God saying something to make you laugh?

Can you imagine what it would be like to experience Him as your Father?

A lot of us view God as the big man in the sky; but have we taken a step back to view and know God as our father

With the trinity (God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit), the idea of God being a father to me was kind of strange if I’m being honest. I didn’t know how God could be a father to me while being, well, God. You could say I knew God as the Son and Holy Spirit, but not as my Father. I didn’t know how to experience that closeness and relation of God being something more than just God in my life.

But over the past few months, I really began to know God as my father through the testimonials of my coworkers. One of my coworkers would constantly brag about the love of God and has such a devoted life to the Lord. Have you heard of that saying, “I want to be so filled with the Holy Spirit that if a mosquito bites me, it flies away singing there is power in the blood”? Literally, if a mosquito bit my coworker, that is exactly what would happen.

I could see the dynamics of that father-child relationship that God had with my coworker. And it opened my eyes to what it could be for us if we accept that invitation to do life with Him.

Going back to Genesis, by rereading the scriptures, it is very observable about the intentionality of God.

From the beginning, He has been looking out for what is best for us.

From the beginning, He has been just.

From the beginning, He has been a loving, loving father.

Today, right now, He is inviting you to take a walk with Him, in His garden. He is inviting you to a life far greater than the one you know right now. He is inviting you into a relationship with Him

My challenge for you is to say yes to that invitation.

Say yes to what He is offering you. Say yes to that relationship that He desires with you. And may you be filled with the Holy Spirit, that when a mosquito bites you, it will go on singing about the power in the blood.
